About this artwork
This work, produced on the return from Japan, features spring and more particularly a lyrical vision of the red plum tree in bloom, much appreciated by Chinese and Japanese scholars. The Japanese artists of the Buyo theater with whom I collaborated in Japan made me aware of this spring season to which I wanted to pay tribute. My readings on the Heian period have complemented this attraction to the beauty of this season. All paintings in the series… "After Winter" and "After Winter, season 2" are made in one movement and do not admit of retouching or repentance.
« The senses that remain awake allow us to perceive the soul of the universe and its eternal beauty. »
