About this artwork
Yesterday is part of the series Two Realities, a body of work exploring the coexistence of inner life and external reality through three temporal states — past, present, and a fragile sense of the future.
This painting reflects a connection to the past — a world shaped by literature, cultural memory, and inherited meanings. The figure hides behind the book, immersed in a familiar narrative that once felt stable and complete. The reference to Tolstoy’s… War and Peace becomes a symbol of a cultural code that defines identity and perception.
In Two Realities, each work represents a different stage of emotional experience. Yesterday marks the beginning — a state of memory and internalized meanings that continue to influence the present, even when reality has shifted.
The painting does not depict events directly, but rather a psychological space — where personal history, cultural identity, and the need for stability quietly coexist.

In my work, I explore the relationship between a person’s inner world and the surrounding reality — especially in moments when the two no longer coincide.
In recent years, living amid constant external instability and striving to preserve familiar everyday rituals and inner harmony have shaped the themes of my recent work.
I combine decorative qualities with a narrative dimension, creating visually expressive images that leave space for the viewer’s personal associations and interpretations.
