About this artwork
In this piece, I've explored the delicate balance between realism and expressionism, channeling the ephemeral beauty of nature through watercolors. The soft, widespread petals of the lilies contrast vividly with the dynamic, blurred background, inviting viewers to feel both peace and passion. This painting captures the essence of serene contemplation while injecting a burst of life and color into any space, making it a refreshing addition to any… home.
Olena Horova, a prolific painter and printmaker, perfected her craft at the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, and continues evolving her skills in watercolor and academic drawing. She embraces the unpredictability of watercolor, allowing granulation, dense brushstrokes, abrasions, and splashes to bring a unique life to every piece. Her works, imbued with compelling contrasts—motion and stillness, softness and sharpness—probe the duality inherent in existence. Each work of Horova initiates an emotive dialogue, inviting viewers to find profound significance in the ostensibly mundane. I also love drawing animals, especially pet portraits, so I will be happy to create a portrait of your cat or dog from a photo.
