About this artwork
It is a dialogue between rock and wave, between stability and fluidity, between calm and movement.
This work was born from direct contact with nature.
At first, I walked the entire beach looking for a spot. I went to the end of the cove.
And that's what I loved about this place—the natural shade of the cliff, the dynamic movement of the rocks, and the waves breaking between them.
The sand next to it was already wet, and I didn't know how long… I had before my easel ended up in the water.
But this pattern captivated me—so I decided I was going to make it happen.
I like to challenge myself when I paint.
Olena Vaskiv is a contemporary artist who works at the boundary between figurative and intuitive painting. Until 2022, her artistic work was developed under the pseudonym Elena Ternova. Her practice explores inner states, subtle emotional transitions, and the relationship between light, form, and the feeling of presence.
The starting point for her works is always intuitive and physical, then the composition is consciously constructed through the manipulation of color, texture, and rhythm. She works primarily in oil and acrylic on canvas, approaching the pictorial material as a living and sensitive substance.
Her paintings create a space of silence and emotional resonance—not to illustrate, but to be experienced. They are paintings intended for the viewer seeking depth, inner dialogue, and a lasting presence in their living space.
