There’s always something in life that feels unwashable — a trace that lingers. It could be a memory tied to a scent, a life experience bound to an object, a complexion of feelings and thoughts, or a moment that stays etched in the mind long after the situation has passed.
What’s fascinating is how this applies equally to joyful memories and traumatic ones. In my series, I explore this idea through layers of meaning, including maps and dates that… extend beyond personal life, reaching into the realm of collective, national, or territorial memory — a tattoo-like object. They represent the broader, shared experiences that shape us as communities.

Olesya Gonserovskaya is a multidisciplinary artist with a rich background, working across painting, textiles, printmaking, kinetic art, media installations, video, drawing, sculpture, sewing, and digital arts. She employs collaborative techniques with “sensitive matter” such as ink, plants, compost, and solar energy, merging traditional craftsmanship with contemporary approaches and assemblages.
