About this artwork
I love walking the streets in the evening, especially after the rain. But there is a special story with this building. I was reading about historic places in Limssol and came across an old photo of a house that is under renovation. It was once a very popular building and was called the Yellow House after the name of the cafe it housed. I wanted to imagine what this building would soon look like. The sky is dark and moody, illuminated by a faint moon…
that casts a gentle glow on the facade. Reflections in the wet street below add depth and movement, hinting at a recent rainfall or the shimmer of streetlights. Overall, the piece has a dreamy, slightly impressionistic feel, evoking a sense of nostalgia for the city’s past. I hope that the subdued color palette— that dominated by grays, blacks, and subtle yellows—heighten the painting’s quiet, almost mysterious atmosphere, drawing the viewer into the old city’s nighttime ambiance.
