About this artwork
I took this photograph in the stunning tropical aquarium at Basel Zoo (Switzerland). Fluorescent jellyfish, known for their ability to emit light that facilitates predation on their prey, have always fascinated me.
The original image was taken with a Canon EOS 6D digital camera. The print I am offering for sale is printed on glossy Fuji Crystal Archive DP paper under plexiglass. The photo print itself is mounted under 2mm matte acrylic glass. The… whole thing has a rear mount (metal suspension; see illustration).
Born in Switzerland, Olivier Schram discovered photography as a teenager. His first images taken in Provence demonstrate an early sensitivity to the light of this region, which has inspired so many artists. Through his travels, Olivier Schram matured his photographic language. His interest in the cultural diversity of our world was revealed. His curiosity led him to discover numerous countries, each trip rekindling his desire to capture the essence of the traditions he observed. Scenes of everyday life, vanished professions, urban bustle—these are all subjects he skillfully immortalizes. When asked about his practice, Olivier Schram tells us: "My modest ambition is to bring people together, to build bridges between cultures and to awaken emotions in those who stop to look at my images." His gallery is a journey through his experiences, an invitation to discover his world and the snippets of life that he has delicately captured for nearly 40 years.
