In “Angel Waiting (Composition 237),” Ovidiu Kloșka explores the interval between inner and outer divinity, where the body becomes an energy field within a greater cosmic system. The angel’s profile dissolves into light, suggesting a vibrational dialogue between matter and spirit. Moving beyond religious imagery, the work functions as a meta-icon, examining the tension between appearance and essence.
The composition is structured around dual centers:… the clarity of the profile and the dense, pulsating chest, evoking both thought and emotion. Layered textures and controlled impasto create a dynamic surface, where energy appears to circulate.
Vulnerable forms and radiant presences coexist in a space where light moves endlessly. The contrast between darkness and golden luminosity reflects a cosmic balance, transforming the work into a meditation on energy, consciousness, and the invisible connection between the human and the universal.

Winner of the SINGULART Awards 2023 – Painter of the Year, Ovidiu Kloska is a Romanian contemporary artist whose practice moves between painting, sculpture, and photographic experimentation. His recent works explore psychological portraiture through a raw neo-expressionist language, where fragmented figures emerge from dense layers of gesture, texture, and chromatic tension.
Working primarily with acrylic on canvas and welded metal, Kloska develops emotionally charged compositions situated between abstraction and figuration. His paintings investigate instability, memory, and the physicality of paint itself, while his sculptural works extend these concerns into space through brutalist and deconstructivist forms.
Balancing violence and refinement, intimacy and collapse, his work reflects an ongoing exploration of the human condition in an era saturated with polished imagery and emotional detachment.
