Drawing in pencil and ink inspired by one of the legends linked to the winds of Lake Garda, a place where several of these blow from north to south and from east to west and whose custody was entrusted to numerous divinities, until they took on real personality, such as that of Aeolus, the god of the winds who, as a son of Neptune, was included in the Genealogy of the gods of Lake Garda: the work is dedicated to his imaginary portrait. He also recurs… in a local legend that has its roots in the world to which he belongs, that of myth: he was in fact present among the classical divinities who came to the lake in the war between Neptune (Poseidon) and Benàco and, when the god of the lake defeated the god of the sea, Aeolus ended up locked in a cave (even if no one tells when, by whom and if he was later freed). Perhaps it is also for this reason that the winds blow restlessly on the lake, because their lord has since been marked by these lands of water and mountains.
« 'Beauty will save the world' by Dostoevsky is a symbolic phrase for me because of the therapeutic, magical, and mysterious content inherent in the logic of art. »
