Paola Vignola, Italian by birth, has lived in Barcelona since childhood. With a background that combines the structure of Milan with the creative freedom of Barcelona, her artistic practice is characterized by a bold use of color. "My work stems from the intersection of furniture restoration, fashion design, and interior decoration. I define myself as an experimental artist who investigates the memory of images. I don't understand the canvas as a simple image, but as a physical surface, an object-matter. Each work is a stage for transformation where acrylic, plaster or similar materials, and volumetric reliefs engage in intense dialogue. My work begins with the contemporary reactivation of historical images and surface wear, using my restoration skills as a metaphor: fragmentation, repair, and new textures that endow figures from our cultural past with a contemporary identity, ultimately leading to the realm of absolute imagination."
