About this artwork
The horizons are symbolic landscapes in which I represent the essence of man composed of two parts, the earthly one and the one that goes beyond matter, together with the constant need to seek this essence to reach the awareness of our existence.
The horizon thus becomes a path to be followed, a path without a destination but with itself as its end; it is not a clear sign but often fades, crumbles, requires slowness, and the earthly side blends… with the invisible and subtle part of man.
Technique: acrylic colors, bitumen, ash oxides on canvas glued to a wooden panel.

Paolo Pallara experiments with mixed media and textured surfaces, using acrylic, enamel, bitumen, and ash on canvas and wood, occasionally enriching his works with fragments of books and period letters. He honed his training in printmaking at the Accademia San Nicolò in Ferrara. In his landscapes, he intertwines symbolism and abstraction, representing the essence of man divided by the horizon, which becomes a path to follow in search of interiority.
His works evoke an intense reflection on the dualism between matter and spirit, communicating mystery, introspection and the profound desire to discover oneself beyond the visible world.
