About this artwork
“…moderately sunny, but unstable. Total stabilization for now is nowhere on site because of the circulation of humid and unstable air on high altitudes.”
I see my paintings of screen images as a kind of “painterly recordings” of the light flashes coming from the screen. Through their pale and cold light, those captured, still and blurry TV scenes convey a specific visual content that is no longer clear and connected to its original message.
These… images are also not prone of being turned off or removed by switching to another channel, but rather allowed to last a bit longer and acquire a new life within a different medium.
Patricija Purgar is a painter with a background from the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, where she earned her MFA in Painting. She works in a figurative style, dynamically adjusting her approach to best suit each subject, often focusing on the atmospheric essence of everyday spaces and transient environments. Her art invites viewers to pause, discover mystery, and find value within the overlooked moments and places of daily life.
