About this artwork
The image is part of the "Color Notes" series.
Oil paint is applied thickly to the canvas using a palette knife. In a spontaneous painting process, I allow the images to develop directly on the canvas. These are painterly attempts to capture the immediacy of the moment and to break free from planning through a rapid working method. Depending on how satisfied I am with the result after some time has passed since the creation of each painting, I add… further layers. Generally, several layers are necessary to bring the paintings to a state that I consider complete.
Patrick Kobielski is an artist living in Karlsruhe who studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe. He creates both abstract and figurative works in the disciplines of painting, collage, and drawing. His works are characterized by a reduction to the essential, a play with colors, surfaces, forms, and the fluid transition between abstract and figurative, concrete and indifferent.
