About this artwork
When I find things broken, decaying, and being ruined like rusted metals, thrown away broken pieces of wooden furniture in the garbage bin, and/or naturally decaying tree branches in the field, I feel empathy toward them. After picking them up, I try to use them in my art and to express my emotions after listening to their stories and understanding their histories. This approach to make my art is the same in other Impermanence series. However,…
in this Mujoh series, I combine with Noh mask which is used in the traditional Japanese Noh theater. Each mask represents different emotions. In #1, I use Young Woman, because her smile is as if saying everything is alright.
