About this artwork
IF I HAD TO is an acceptance and afterwards an action into my ignorance with the nature that surrounds me. I grew up in a chaotic city, the city of Tijuana. An industrial city that is not known for its nature. Since I was young, I realized that my relationship with nature was very different then that of my grandparents, who grew up on ranches. I learned from them a lot, and thanks to them, I learned how to love nature, but understanding nature and…
acting with nature was a personal decision that I had to make later on in life. In this painting, I imagined myself getting willingly lost in the desert and wondering if I could survive. What skills do I actually have, and what knowledge do I carry that would allow me to survive outside of human society?
