About this artwork
This painting is the first step in a new direction for the artist. Here I have painted over a previous painting that had a rough surface. This was a challenge in that drawing on that surface made things more difficult. The look I was going for was Thrift Store art. The faces are painted in cartoonish colors but it was fun to execute this image because it is so unlike what the artist normally produces. That was the point of this exercise and… it was to get the artist out of his comfort zone.
« Each painting I make is a search for a spiritual understanding of who I am as an artist and who I can become as a human being. »
Peter Locascio is an American artist whose works have been widely exhibited in the United States. He believes that creating art is more of a spiritual journey than a materialistic one. Locascio's compositions are inspired by Aboriginal, Native American, and Hindu art forms, etc. While some of his pieces convey narratives, others are simply whimsical. He favors painting with oils on canvas.
