About this artwork
This painting is about the coming ecological disaster that is getting closer and closer. There are a couple of things happening. Our soil is being depleted each year when we plow our fields. So much so that we now have 20 more years of planting until our soil is depleted. Water is becoming scarce. The drought in the western part of the USA is becoming severe. Climate change is causing 100,000,000 people to leave their homes because of severe… flooding and drought issues. This painting was made in 1991 and it is now more true then ever. We need to make changes now or the world as we know it will become uninhabitable. I studied climate change and agriculture at the University of Connecticut and the warnings about the Eco-Time Bomb were being made in 1978. What else has to happen before we do something?
« Each painting I make is a search for a spiritual understanding of who I am as an artist and who I can become as a human being. »
Peter Locascio is an American artist whose works have been widely exhibited in the United States. He believes that creating art is more of a spiritual journey than a materialistic one. Locascio's compositions are inspired by Aboriginal, Native American, and Hindu art forms, etc. While some of his pieces convey narratives, others are simply whimsical. He favors painting with oils on canvas.
