About this artwork
Scattered in the sea of ignorance and conditioned by social frameworks, we often fail to see the long-forgotten creative power of the feminine principle.
It does not dwell on the surface, there is not enough space for it there.
It resides in the endless depths of our being. It is quiet yet powerful, calm yet fierce, like a river swollen with life that flows onward. To feel once again its womb, its gentle yet firm caress, the hands of safety that… have healed wounds and carried humanity in their embrace.
We often do not feel what we see, we hide within the boundaries of approval while within us an entire wilderness waits to be set free.

My name is Petra, but I create my paintings under my artistic name - Arelena.I hold a Master’s degree in Applied Arts and have worked in sculpture and mosaic, while for the past two years I have been deeply engaged in painting. I am currently studying integrative aromatherapy, and during the painting process, scent and its archetype serve as the central axis around which a psychological and emotional process unfolds.
Painting is my tool for communication; with myself, with the world, and for observing our psychological states, patterns, and hidden aspects. I approach each painting introspectively, seeking to understand the message it conveys. I paint intuitively, guided by intention, each painting tells a story and every text is written originally (translated from Croatian) and it's part of the artwork.
I explore how our subconscious self can communicate with us through fragrance, color, symbol, emotion, and the very intention that drives the process.
