About this artwork
The way home - is like a metaphor for the life of the artist. It is a minimalistic, semi-abstract painting, which is rather unusual for her. The inspiration was a sketch that the artist had made spontaneously on one of her many travels, she commutes back and forth between two countries, between two mentalities. Always with some of her belongings in the car, never really at home, never really rooted anywhere. A suggested landscape, a suggested road,…
trees that refer to Tuscany, through which she drives on her way to the south (or vice versa) without stopping for long. A decorative picture, the surface has been slightly textured with putty, a long time ago there was another painting on the canvas that has been re-primed. The sketch for the original picture is included.

She feels that a single painting can sometimes be mysterious, while a series of images placed together is a biography. Kaindel's compositions explore gender roles, beauty and consumerism, and dehumanization, while also conveying a sense of loneliness and disorientation in a world of seemingly unlimited possibilities.
