About this artwork
This painting is one of the first works created in my BLUE_S series. In BLUE_S I deal with my personal longing for freedom and was inspired by the feeling of being free and weightless in the water and the associated color blue. "For new shores" is a kind of mission statement for me. With powerful strokes and lively expression, it draws a woman who turns her back on the past and bravely goes into freedom, but also into an unknown future. The subtitle… "some kind of self portrait" is intended to underline my personal pursuit of freedom and further development. The use of acrylic paints in an expressionistic and semi-abstract manner creates a movement that is both bold and fluid. This artwork symbolizes the longing to discover new things and the courage to move forward. It will give your home an atmosphere of forward momentum and endless possibilities.
Petra Rader works mainly with acrylic and only discovered her artistic calling at the age of 46. Her expressive style is characterized by spontaneous, generous brushstrokes and the dissolution of figures as in her BLUE S series; she creates a world of merging surfaces that connect body and space. Her works radiate longing, freedom and moments of personal empowerment.
