About this artwork
It can be viewed from afar but it is up close that most calm, peace and contemplation is rewarded by studying the intricate details.
A polished bronze “pebble” sits in a sea of blues, separated from the subtle, variegated exterior by a natural bronze edge. Polished bronze has a sublime colour and quality, reflecting both falling light and its surroundings. A static photograph cannot in any way show the adjustments made by the mind and eye.
The… interior replicates the shape of a small boulder washed ashore on a beach, polished and rounded by the endless action of sand and water. It is finished in many oceanic shades entwined in organic texture.
Number 8 in an edition of 9, each in the edition has unique characteristics meaning that no two are the same.
What may appear as a simple vessel form is surprisingly complex with a powerful presence and timeless beauty.
