About this artwork
Many rivers in their early days have a fascinating combination of waterfalls, still pools and rushing torrents or simply meander over shallow, stony beds. The constant voice is calming and restorative.
The river is never the same and never stops on the path towards its destination.
Below a footbridge crossing the River Monnow in Herefordshire, not far from it’s source, is a broad and almost still pool from which the water rushes out without disturbing… the surface.
Magic and metaphor.
Cast in solid bronze and turning freely on a Bath sone base, natural bronze highlights the ripples.
Signed with a monogram and uniquely numbered 670A on the bottom edge either side of the stainless steel pivot pin.
