About this artwork
Franco-German painter, friend of Henry Miller and Lawrence Durrell, Hans Reichel, often compared to Paul Klee left a poetic and delicate work. His particular face gives full meaning to the word humanist. This portrait painted from a photo by Brassai brings Paris back to life in the 1940s and 50s. Influenced by Paul Klee, Hans Reichel draws from the observation of nature patterns with metamorphoses on small pieces of paper. By rejecting technical… perfection, he leaves the initiative to the material and to vagaries of all kinds. It is in watercolor that he finds the most suitable medium for his reverie: tranquil creatures, fish and birds, drift in a curved space and float with the uncertainty of dreams.
« Painting and creation, in general, are the best ways to deliver what words cannot say. »
Philippe Abril is an award-winning French painter who has exhibited in both solo and group events nationally. Within his works, he conveys his amazement of having ‘landed on this fabulous planet’. Abril’s naive narrative paintings are mostly made using acrylics, as its fast drying qualities give him the freedom to mix other mediums more easily.
