About this artwork
This artwork is about the Snark Origin story. Think about the cute furry animals that make your life difficult, like rabbits and squirrels and groundhogs. They became snarky after Noah refused them entry to the Ark because, as he told them, they were "a day late and a dollar short." That fateful occurrence is illustrated in this painting of Noah in the Ark and several animals floating away on a log. Evidently the small animals (but not the dinosaurs)… survived the flood despite Noah's rejection and their descendants continue to resent the human race. These snarky critters dedicate their lives to annoying people.
Phyllis Andrews is a self-taught painter with a scientific background, working primarily in water media such as watercolor and acrylic. She masterfully blends detailed sketching, photographic references, and imaginative editing, often merging both media for playful, vibrant compositions. Her art, characterized by light-hearted fantasy landscapes and whimsical narratives, invites viewers into alternate worlds brimming with humor and subtle depth.
