Born on July 2, 1935, Pierre Gogois painted more than 300 abstract canvases between 1957 and 1967. Then, attracted by portraits and landscapes, he moved towards figurative painting (more than 2,000 portraits).

A self-taught Parisian painter, he mainly uses oil and pastel and covers a wide range of subjects: landscapes, still lifes, night landscapes, Bacchanalia and portraits.

He has held numerous exhibitions throughout the world (Belgium, Germany, Italy, the United States, Venezuela, Hong Kong, the Philippines, etc.) as well as in France, with a retrospective in 2007 at the town hall of the 16th arrondissement of Paris, retracing 50 years of his career.

In 1974, a Swiss patron built a museum in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence region dedicated entirely to his works. The Musée des Invalides and the Musée de Liège also acquired his paintings.

Pierre Gogois appears in the Bénézit with his signature, a privilege reserved for the most important artists.
