Pierre Laffillé, a painter, draftsman, and engraver of Norman origin, trained at the Académie Julian and then at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. His contemporary figurative style is deeply imbued with chiaroscuro and light, inherited from the Flemish school, to which he pays homage. Inspired as much by women as by poverty and social issues, he approaches each subject with raw sincerity, rejecting ornamentation. Through his neutral and uncompromising approach, he conveys a profound emotional intensity that is both unsettling and thought-provoking regarding the human condition.
