About this artwork
This work is part of a series of five pieces on Ovid's Metamorphoses, titled Theseus, Ariadne, and Bacchus. These five pieces present my vision of Ovid's tale, reconstructing the myth's key passages. This myth is particularly interesting because it is rich in archetypes, phrases, and sayings that are still used today: "it would take Ariadne's thread"; "to be left in the lurch"; "to find oneself in a maze of paths."

In this element Bacchus, guided by Ariadne's laments, reaches her and makes her his wife. As a gift, Princess Ariadne's crown is thrown into the sky to form the constellation Corona Borealis (which we find in the background).
