About this artwork
This work that makes the viewer freeze with horror and vague forebodings. In the center of the picture is the majestic Notre Dame Cathedral, a symbol of France and faith, shrouded in flames and smoke. Orange and ocher tones create an atmosphere of fire and disaster, emphasizing the tragedy of what is happening.
On the left on the stained glass window sits Gorgola, the guardian of the cathedral, who watches the death of his house. The burning spire… bends over and begins to fall, symbolizing destruction and loss. A huge column of smoke rises into the sky, and in the distance the Epheil Tower, another symbol of Paris, can be seen.
This painting is intended to evoke in the viewer a feeling of anxiety and deep sadness, recalling the fragility of human creations and their vulnerability.
It is a powerful reminder of how quickly destinies can change and how important it is to protect and appreciate what we have, that makes us think about the value of our heritage and faith.
Nicolas, informed by museums and the aura of European Renaissance, primarily crafts using oil paints, not afraid to merge with acrylic, plaster, and gold. His art marries classical standards with intuitive creativity, crafting unique, eclectically inspired pieces resplendent with oriental patterns and geometric shapes. Breathing life into his creations, Nicolas' work exudes an inner light, delivering an engaging dialogue with the viewer.
