About this artwork
Inspired by natural disasters and how frequently we seem to be having them these days, this piece shows the before and after effects of a tsunami. However, it is depicted in such an abstract way with cool, beautiful colors, that the mood of these pieces are peaceful and serene. It is a wonderful juxtaposition of theme and emotional effect. Perfect for anyone who loves water or the ocean, there is a wonderful and odd serenity to this diptych. And… perhaps it will inspire viewers to ponder and meditate on some deeper realities along the way.
Note: In line with the theme of this piece, both sections of this painting are painted on reclaimed wood from an old dresser that could have been found in the wreckage of a natural disaster. Both pieces are painted on the sides and therefore do not need to be framed.
This painting(s) is signed on the front and includes my Certificate of Authenticity.
« I paint the light and darkness that lies within us all. »
Preston M. Smith is an exciting American painter whose works have been widely exhibited across the United States. Interested in construction and deconstruction, and always seeking to work in a state of pure emotion, he composes striking abstract paintings and inventive portraits that reflect order in chaos, beauty in madness.
