In this painting, I portray the moment of a father returning to his daughter after being away for a long time, working overseas to provide for his family. The daughter, still young when he left, no longer recognizes him. He gently asks if she remembers who he is, and their shared uncertainty lingers in the air. The muted colors reflect the harshness of life’s trials, while the foggy expressions on their faces evoke the universal feeling of distance…

Qais Al Sindy is an Iraqi-American multi-media artist versed in painting, installation, video, conceptual and performance art.
