About this artwork
This small painting is a study for a larger work, both titled "Diogenes." Inspired by Lamiah Abbas Imara's poem, it explores themes of search, loss, and transformation. The poem's lines—"I carry my lantern at noon / And I search for her"—reflect a quest for an elusive figure lost amidst chaos.
The painting conveys this sense of searching and uncertainty. Colors blur and merge, becoming indistinguishable, symbolizing the merging of identities and… profound change. The quest for self-understanding and the understanding of others remains incomplete, ever-shifting.
Additional images show the larger painting and myself in the creative process, delving into the journey from confusion to clarity.
