About this artwork
Scarlet Ruins is a striking piece from my ongoing series Destruction of War, a body of work that confronts the enduring scars left by conflict. In this composition, a deconstructed military tank dissolves into abstraction beneath a searing red sky—a visual metaphor for violence consuming itself. The aggressive brushwork and raw textures speak of destruction not only in landscapes, but in memory and identity.
The fiery crimson backdrop overwhelms… the scene like an endless alarm, burning through any illusion of peace. What remains of the machine is no longer a symbol of power, but a relic in decay, twisted, muted, and silenced. This work asks: when the smoke clears, what do we inherit from war but ruin?
This painting, like the others in the series, challenges viewers to contemplate the cost of war beyond the battlefield, in the cultural and psychological fabric of a people.
