About this artwork
This painting is a free interpretation of a canvas by Jean Léon Gérôme, a 19th century orientalist painter.
I added an incongruous touch, an apparition from another dimension, like an echo from another century.
Régis Bezannier works primarily in black and white acrylic painting and ink drawing, drawing on experience as a fresco artist and illustrator since 2002, in addition to teaching at the Nantes Atlantique School of Design. His technique meticulously details dreamlike swirls, alternating realism and surrealism with a demanding practice and a strong attention to composition. Through his works, he invites the viewer to lose themselves in the depths, to feel the intensity of the light and to freely explore a mysterious inner world.
