About this artwork
This canvas with a black background covers traces. It is part of a suite, where only the face stands before us, as if I had stretched a large black curtain between this face which faces us, to free it definitively from the abstract matrix, from the background, which gave birth. The actor, whom the painting represents, knows that it is not necessary to show everything to the public, I considered it useful to only show the essential.

Rémi Jouandet is an award-winning artist based in France whose paintings have been featured in solo exhibitions nationally, as well as in Canada and England. Over the past few years, his artistic expression has contentrated almost exluslively on the human figure. Jouandet creates intuitively and spontaneously, "spreading" color on several canvases in rapid succesion, returning later to "discover them", then adding the figurative elements. He primarily employs acrylics on canvas.
