About this artwork
In this portrait, I wanted to express both the fragility and the radiance of this artist, so familiar to French and German audiences alike. The actress's expressive face seems to be part of her abstract surroundings. I thought a lot about her performance in A. Sulawski's film "L'important c'est d'aimer" while creating this painting.

Rémi Jouandet is an award-winning artist based in France whose paintings have been featured in solo exhibitions nationally, as well as in Canada and England. Over the past few years, his artistic expression has contentrated almost exluslively on the human figure. Jouandet creates intuitively and spontaneously, "spreading" color on several canvases in rapid succesion, returning later to "discover them", then adding the figurative elements. He primarily employs acrylics on canvas.
