About this artwork
This painting was first painted with a resolutely abstract perspective.
The idea of depicting a portrait split in two, following an accident, forced me to enlarge the drawing on the left side of the portrait and then gradually erase it. The result thus makes the entire portrait appear in two stages to the eyes of the viewer.
I prefer black and white photography as the basis for my representation because it gives me complete freedom in the choice… of colors.

Rémi Jouandet is an award-winning artist based in France whose paintings have been featured in solo exhibitions nationally, as well as in Canada and England. Over the past few years, his artistic expression has contentrated almost exluslively on the human figure. Jouandet creates intuitively and spontaneously, "spreading" color on several canvases in rapid succesion, returning later to "discover them", then adding the figurative elements. He primarily employs acrylics on canvas.
