About this artwork
There's a dog in many of my paintings. What can I say? - the spirit of dog runs through my work. However this piece alludes to my discomfort with having a dog in the city. A walk round a block on a leash just doesn't cut it. Dogs need natural spaces to run. To sniff a vast unseen (by us) world of encounters and happenings. Of course dogs will sniff such a world around a city block (like in this painting), but LET THEM SNIFF! Let them take their time… getting to know the olfactory neighbourhood. Don't drag them away until they've learned everything that that particular lamppost has to tell them.
Raised in a lineage of successful artists, Raindog is a seasoned English painter and digital artist, and sound designer. Utilizing a variety of acrylics, crayons, photography and mixed medium, Raindog’s work straddles the line between abstraction and tangible reality, constantly pushing boundaries. Through his creations, he imparts emotions of discovery and mysticism, inspired by his exploration of physics, philosophy, and spirituality. His paintings are often accompanied, or at least inspire his musical and sound compositions.
