I crafted a swinging sculpture from galvanized steel strip. The materials already served important purposes. The steel strip had been encased in concrete for years as a foundation grounding electrode and had therefore already corroded slightly. The rust will continue to develop if placed outdoors, transforming the sculpture into nothing. Observing this process is intended to be part of the work.
Intended for outdoor installation. Even the slightest… gust of wind causes the figure to sway gently. These gentle vibrations have a calming effect on the viewer. The threefold expression—form, movement, and material—gives the work a unique aesthetic.
This work was created alongside the previously published sculpture Thirty-One Swan and Thirty-Two Eyelets. Placed side by side in a garden, they create a magnificent interplay of form and movement.
