About this artwork
This is a unique, hand-painted canvas artwork, signed on the back, measuring 140 x 155 cm, which will be delivered rolled, without a frame or stretcher, carefully protected in professional packaging.
My painting can be viewed in two ways: first, as a free, rhythmic, almost dance-like figuration, and then as an abstract whole where lines intersect and vibrate against a deep, fluid background. Depending on the period of my career, it is sometimes… abstract with raw, spontaneous strokes, and sometimes more detailed and populated by strange creatures. The viewer is invited to oscillate, to follow the lines and "dance" with them. Each gesture is deliberate, yet always freely applied, like music that gives life to forms on the canvas. I believe my painting is innovative, vibrant, and full of freshness. Because it responds to an inner need to define myself through it, to reinvent myself. It is a game, but also a confrontation with myself.

Ralf Altrieth

Ralf Altrieth (born in 1966 in Heilbronn) is a German painter and musician who has been living in France since 2006. For more than thirty years, he has expressed himself through a diverse artistic practice, which includes painting, drawing, linocut and photography, as well as contemporary music.
Having been attracted to the visual arts from a very early age, he took private lessons with the painter Georg Schaible at the age of 14, before joining the Academy of Fine Arts in Nürtingen in 1987. In parallel, he played the saxophone and jazz from the age of 20.
He is also a co-founder of the music label meta records and has collaborated with many musicians, often incorporating music as a source of inspiration in his visual art.
His work is frequently described as living at the intersection of gestural expression, neo-expressionism, and lyrical abstraction, where line and color are like writing that explores movement and intuitive storytelling.
