About this artwork

This commissioned painting reflects action, joy and faith. The purpose was to represent emotions (red) felt when life needs to overcome inertia, and when taking action provides our life with a direction (lines, shapes and textures).

Painted on a gallery stretched canvas with the composition wrapped around the edges, thus no framing is required.

Renee De Gagne is an experienced Canadian painter who has exhibited her work throughout North America. She primarily explores architecture as an expressive statement of urban dynamics, and artistically captures the energy of cities through works marked by warm color palettes and a dance between the abstract and figurative. She paints instinctively, and always keeps memories, stories, histories and pictures of cities in her mind.
