About this artwork
Under a sky, where darkness gathers yet yields to luminous yellow and white clouds, the sea rises in restless motion. Powerful waves surge forward, their force both raw and unrestrained. The contrast between shadow and light mirrors the tension of our times — uncertainty colliding with resilience, turbulence edged with hope.
The Sea’s Turmoil becomes more than a seascape; it is an emotional landscape. The agitated waters echo the upheavals of the… world, while the glowing clouds suggest that even in the heaviest skies, light insists on breaking through. The painting holds this fragile balance — a reminder that turmoil and hope often share the same horizon.
« My paintings reflect my love of architecture, be it breathtaking towers or ancient constructions. Buildings are an important testimonial of our presence on earth, and my artwork is about this presence. »
Renee De Gagne is an experienced Canadian painter who has exhibited her work throughout North America. She primarily explores architecture as an expressive statement of urban dynamics, and artistically captures the energy of cities through works marked by warm color palettes and a dance between the abstract and figurative. She paints instinctively, and always keeps memories, stories, histories and pictures of cities in her mind.
