About this artwork
In this work, I've poured out a whirlwind of inner emotions, exploring the struggle between the mind and chaos. I used acrylics, oils, and relief printing techniques to create textures that represent this explosion of thoughts and feelings. I wanted to capture how confusion and clarity coexist, conveying an intense energy that will fill your space with depth and reflection.
Reyes Portas primarily works in painting and drawing, having trained in mural arts at the Massana School in Barcelona and with a background in cultural management. Her work begins with the human figure and evolves towards abstraction, employing oil glazes, sfumato, and spiral compositions, where negative space and mineral texture evoke memory. She uses a restrained palette to create a visual limbo between the visible and the intuited. Her works convey a profound emotional connection and seek to reconnect the viewer with their own essence and sense of belonging.
