About this artwork
In this oil painting, I've captured a resilient spirit navigating through the calm after a storm. The soft glow of dawn illuminates the path, symbolizing hope and renewal. Dappled light filters through tender branches, casting a dance of light and shadow that breathes life into the scene. Each stroke embodies the emotions of tranquility and quiet strength, intended to bring a sense of peace and inspiration to your home.
This painting is part of… a series inspired by a fiction I'm currently writing. During this section of the story, the traveler journeyed to a land shrouded by everlasting dark and gloomy clouds. People were no stranger to ferocious storms that made their life difficult. However, the traveler believed the missing light and hope shall be drawn from within, instead of being searched for elsewhere. She eventually withstood the tempest and survived.
Chiang was introduced to the oil medium at the age of thirteen. He was immediately taken by its versatility and slow-drying attributes. It was a time before the digital mediums became highly developed and widely accessible. The freedom of adding layers and blending colors opened up unprecedented possibilities for him. His fascination for the oil medium has been consistent even after the arrival of the digital age of art creation. To him, oil's organic brushstrokes are irreplaceable no matter how close the digital tools could deliver.
Painting helps Chiang maintain his inner piece, meditate on life, and seek wonders in the mundane. He believes, “Beauty is everywhere, it only takes the eyes to see, the mind to perceive, and the heart to appreciate.”
