About this artwork
The painting shows a vivid and striking view of the "Plage du Bestouan" beach in Cassis. The foreground is dominated by the massive limestone cliffs of the beach, lapped by the powerful waves of the sea. The spray foams and splashes dramatically, the movement and energy of the water are almost tangible. In the middle ground stretches the bay, its turquoise waters sparkling in the sunlight, giving a feeling of depth and clarity.
Cap Canaille, Cassis's… landmark, rises majestically in the background. The steep cliffs are painted in warm, earthy tones that catch the light of the low sun.
