Die winterliche Szene öffnet sich in einem impressionistischen Tanz von Licht und Kälte. Ein strahlend blauer Himmel dominiert den oberen Teil des Bildes, durchsetzt mit der strahlenden Pracht einer gleißenden Sonne, die ihr warmes Licht über die schneebedeckte Landschaft gießt. Im Vordergrund liegen gefällte Baumstämme, die mit einer weiß und blassblau schimmernden Schneedecke bedeckt sind. Die Enden dieser Baumstämme leuchten in den Farben von…
frisch gesägtem Holz, mit tiefen Brauntönen und lebhaften Maserungen, die einen Kontrast zur winterlichen Umgebung bilden. Jenseits dieses Feldes erstreckt sich ein Wäldchen in hellem Ocker und Ultramarinblau. Die Farben vermischen sich zu einem impressionistischen Strudel, der die Textur des winterlichen Gebüschs einfängt. Einige Kiefern ragen aus dem Gebüsch heraus, ihre zarten Äste sind leicht mit Schnee bedeckt und heben sich als Silhouette vom klaren Himmel ab.
