I'm driving near the Comédie-Française, rue de Richelieu, in Paris, on a very rainy evening. I put on the "warning," set up the few essential accessories for a good shot, and waited for the rain to flood the windshield. I then took a little photographic "pan" to obtain the Light Painting effect, which was added to the "Rain Painting" effect that I have been exploring for many years. The light from the streetlights draws a line that is reminiscent… of musical writing on a music staff: it looks like a theme that moves horizontally, while the harmony is transcribed vertically by the columns or their reflections on the ground. Here and there, the glowing, almost dreamlike silhouette of a passerby appears.
Robert Bared, photographer, knows how to welcome urban surprise to create a universe that is both meticulous and spontaneous, both harmonious and sensitive. He excels in particular at photographing Paris in the rain, transforming Street Photography into Fine Art. And he has learned Cartier-Bresson's lesson: he photographs with his head, his eye and his heart.
