About this artwork
Because of his experimental and innovative way of playing the rock electric guitar, Hendrix is considered an avant-garde player and one of the most important and influential guitarists who had a lasting effect on the development of rock music. With this small series of experimental works in terms of color and form, I pay homage to his extraordinary work, which also stand out in their expressive style. Above all because of the expressive application… of paint and the immanent tension between meandering movement and contemplative spatial depth, these pictures occupy a special place in my work. This underlines the padded, pillow-like 3-dimensional shape of these works, which in turn require a certain amount of space and leisure for viewing. This artwork is currently shown in an exhibition together with Markus Lüpertz and will be available in January 2022.
« Form and color are part of pure sensation; Sensation is wisdom. »
