About this artwork
Before the Fracture is a contemporary mixed media bas-relief artwork from the Pressure series, focusing on the critical moment just before collapse — when tension has reached its limit, but release has not yet occurred. Constructed on canvas using polystyrene foam, plaster paste, acrylic layers, and finished with oil paint, the work projects up to 10 cm, giving it a strong sculptural presence on the wall.
The fractured texture suggests internal… stress and containment, capturing a suspended state between stability and transformation. Nothing has broken yet — but the pressure is unmistakable. The tactile surface invites close viewing, making the work as much about physical experience as visual perception.
Blurring the boundary between painting and sculpture, Before the Fracture functions as a powerful statement piece — minimal, architectural, and emotionally resonant — suitable for contemporary interiors and collectors drawn to texture, form, and concept.
Robertas Kasperovicius, a Lithuanian artist trained under renowned mentors, works mainly in oil on canvas but brings the sensitivity of a painter, sculptor, and designer to his art. His large-scale works meld contemporary figurative painting, expressive color, and rich symbolism, fusing observation with imagination through emotive forms and layered compositions. He seeks to evoke reflection, inviting viewers into a deeply personal contemplation of beauty, vulnerability, human strength, and the poignant emotional landscapes of contemporary life.
