About this artwork
Aerial Open Volume is a black-brushed steel sculpture that explores the relationship between form, void, and movement. Composed of curved, open geometric volumes, the piece plays with the balance between fullness and emptiness, allowing space to flow through it.
Raised on a light pedestal, the sculpture appears almost suspended, as if defying the weight of the material. Its structure is not completely closed, but rather creates gaps and openings… that invite us to look through the work, to visually follow the internal paths it proposes.
The dark, satin-finished steel surface softly reflects light, highlighting the folds and edges. Despite being made of an industrial material, the sculpture conveys lightness and dynamism. It's a breathing form that doesn't impose itself on the space, but rather incorporates it as an essential part of its language.

« The investigation of space and form, close to primitive and essential art, is my engine of exploration and work. The attempt to achieve a pure form that reaches the subconscious of the viewer because it is capable of summarizing something universal. »
Roberto Canduela is an experienced Spanish sculptor with extensive national exhibition experience. Spring-boarding from the idea that our bodies limit and delimit us-both physically and mentally-he composes works with anthropomorphic references and a high degree of abstraction. He additionally experiments with architectural forms that generate fascinating spaces and gaps, and constantly dances between heavy and the light.
