About this artwork
ROTFELD is a three-dimensional work created using the image fusion technique I developed.
It is a mixed media artwork in which painting merges with photography and various materials.
This literally multi-layered piece enters into a dialogue with the viewer and, depending on the perspective, continually invites new ways of seeing.

Roman Harasymiw (b. 1957, Kaufbeuren, Germany) is an artist of Ukrainian heritage rooted in the Allgäu region. From 1980 to 1987, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Prof. Franz Bernhard Weißhaar, becoming his master student and technical assistant in 1984.
After early sacred commissions in public spaces, he developed a diverse practice spanning painting, drawing, photography, and sculpture. His work moves between figuration and abstraction, exploring the interplay of light, material, and space.
Through experimental techniques such as his Sedilumpintography, image fusions, and light etchings, he combines traditional knowledge with innovation.
He has received several awards, including the Cultural Prize of Kaufbeuren (2001) and the Art Prize of Kempten (2016). In 2023, his work Reader I entered the German Bundestag art collection. He lives in the artist village of Irsee and works in Kaufbeuren.
